P — PLAYED

The total number of matches that a national selection has completed on the pitch during this group stage stage. A complete group stage has 3 matches per team.

W — WINS

The total number of matches in which the national selection successfully secured victory over their opponents within 90 minutes plus injury time.

D — DRAWS

The total number of fixtures that concluded with a level scoreline. Both selections receive exactly 1 point in their column for a drawn result.

L — LOSSES

Matches in which the opposing team scored more goals. A loss awards 0 points to the defeated side's standing.

GF — GOALS FOR

The cumulative tally of goals put into the opponent's net during all group fixtures. Shows overall attacking output.

GA — GOALS AGAINST

The cumulative total of goals conceded inside their own net. Represents the defensive record of the team.

GD — GOAL DIFFERENCE

A simple calculation subtractive formula: Goals For (GF) minus Goals Against (GA). This serves as a vital first-stage tiebreaker in football tournaments when teams finish level on points.

PTS — POINTS

The overall standard metric that decides group rankings: 3 points are awarded for each Win, 1 point for a Draw, and 0 points for a Loss.
